Take pain killer tablet precribed by dentist and also the antibiotics. You can do warm saline rinses for 3-4 nowadays a day, this will help. Do not put anything on the area of stitches. The pain will go in another 2-3 days. For more information on tooth extraction do's and don'ts you can read the following article from a very informative dental website http://www.identalhub.com/ArticleSubCategories.aspx?ArticleCategoryId=27&Name=Tooth%20Extraction

BRITTY, there is no way this could ever be DRY SOCKET because if it's going to happen it's within 24-48 hours after extraction. Normal post operative discompose for several days is not unusual. If surgical extractions were finished in which pearl was removed, the hurt is not unusual. Advil 2-3 tabs every 4-6 hours for a few days until the hurt improves. Rinsing with unenthusiastic salt water three times per day will speed healing and recovery
