I've had my braces for just over a year and though they strength not be the most attractive things in the world, they are rattling not that bad. People mostly attending them, but presently get used to your new look and treat you exactly the same!
Mine were quite uncomfortable for the prototypal week or so, but I took a couple of pain killers and it was bearable. You hit to get them tightened every 3 or so months and that tends to ache for a couple of life but it presently goes away. My advice would be to stick to fleecy foods that you don't hit to cud for the prototypal couple of days. For instance, fleecy bread, soup etc.
When i got mine fitted, the orthodontist was rattling pleasant and considerate. You hit to hit an impression taken of your set (which you strength hit already had done), it is essentially a big amass of play-dough like clog that sticks to your set and sets, though it isn't that comfortable, it only takes about a minute.
Then when you actually hit them fitted, they decent your set with some brawny toothpaste stuff, because apparently if you hit train-tracks, you can't decent under them. Then they attach brackets and finally the wire. The whole process takes around 45 transactions because you hit to let it set before you can advise on to the incoming step.
After you hit your braces taken off, you hit to dress a retainer, usually only at nights but you strength hit to dress it in the period as well. It is a brawny plastic counterbalance that fits over your set and makes sure that your set stay in place and don't advise back again; otherwise all that hornlike work will hit gone to waste!
It is so worth it in the end though, you will hit beautifully straightforward set for the rest of your life - providing you dress your retainer.
Good Luck and hope it goes ok!
