 Why do my "eyelashes" hurt?

This has been happening for a while now. When I go to a florescent light and it beams directly onto my eyes, there is a destined spot on my eyelid that hurts. And when I pull at my eyelashes, it seems that they are the cause for the mismatched pain from the light. So when I do pull out the lashes, it relieves it, but then I'm there with a big gap in my lashes. How do I get that to kibosh besides "just staying away from florescent light"? Another observation is that they completely start out when barely touched. I so such as rub my receptor and there is a huge piece of my lashes gone. And I am mitt with lashes with mismatched roots, dark instead of light and shorter than the others. When I'm not by the light, the roots seem fine and there is no discoloration (I can also see the darkness of the stem when the eyelashes are ease in my eyelid). Does anyone know what is going on with my eyelashes and lids? Is there any way to attain them grow back normally and/or quickly?

I get a pain in my eyelashes about every 3 months or so that doesn't go away until I pluck the one that hurts, though I haven't noticed the issue with florescent light like you have. However, this is the only info I've found that was helpful so far. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blepharitis

The same thing happens to me as what happens to Liberty Belle. Mentioned it to a cosmetic doc yesterday. He said he's never heard of it and suggested I ask an opthalmologist. Aesthetician told me that the ones that hurt may be moving from one stage of growth to the next. I guess this could be a possible explanation...

Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only person who had hurting eyelashes! I had never thought about the floresent light being the problem but I think Madison might be right. I was out of work from Jan. 30 to Oct. 26. The entire time I was out of work I never had a problem but now that I have been back to work for 5 weeks I have basically no eyelashes on either eye. However before I lost my job I would have a problem about once every 3 months also but it was only one eye at a time. I have never had both eyes naked at the same time. I HATE this!!! I never bothered to go to the doctor because I figured they would just think I'm crazy and tell me to stop plucking my lashes. If it were only that easy...
