A hiccup or hiccough (normally pronounced "HICK-up" IPA: /?h?k?p/), is the spasmodic shortening of the diaphragm that repeats several times per minute. In humans, the abrupt rush of air into the lungs causes the epiglottis to close, creating the "hic" center (help·info) noise. In medicine, it is famous as coetaneous diaphragmatic thump (SDF), or singultus. The term "hiccup" is also used to exposit a diminutive and unrepeated aberration in an otherwise consistent pattern. A bout of hiccups generally resolves itself without intervention, though many home remedies verify to shorten the duration, and medical communication is occasionally necessary. If you wish to give yourself hiccups, then just drink a whole bunch of pop rattling quickly.
