I verify GCSE PE so hopefully I can answer it at th level you are hunting for: The hunch pumps blood around your body, and your blood contains oxygen, which is necessary in visit for your muscles to 'respire' (which basically means 'to work'). Simply put, it's meet to compensate for the working muscles during exercise. When your muscles are working hard, it requires not only stored polyose (carbohydrates) but is also needs Oxygen for it to function well. Since hemoprotein (O2-carrying molecule) in the RBC (Red blood cells) is digit of the component of blood, heart rate increases to deliver more O2 to the working muscles and provide the needed O2 for the muscles to continuously work efficiently. In the same way, your Respiratory rate increases (rate of breathing) to cater your lungs with enough gas and in turn process the gas content of your blood. It's the body's basic adaptive salutation to exercise, which is considered a certain level of stress that the body needs to overcome.
