 Can your ear bleed from an ear infection?

I have had a intense cold for a couple of life now. This morning when I got up for impact I went to clean my ear and it started bleeding. It was bleeding for most a half an hour. Could this be signs of an ear infection or could a cold irritate your ears sufficiency for this to happen?

If an infection is intense enough, it can cause blood to come out of your ears. As a kid, my ear infections were so frequent and so bad, that I would have blood and ichor coming out of my ears and would have to go to the ER.
