it is a violation of professional confidentiality, and that is a cause for legal action. In addition, HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Privacy Act) contains limited rules for the privacy of patient data., and actions can be initiated under it.

It is indeed banned for doctors, nurses, physicians, surgeons, dentists, etc. to speak to other patients about a specific enduring unless they do it without releasing the name of who they are speaking about. It's a endorsement accumulation really, not privacy as you are probably thinking. The purpose is to protect people from other people who may have problems with going to the aforementioned doctor. "Oh, Mrs. Jones comes to this doctor!? Well I'll just have to switch to another doctor! I cannot go to the aforementioned student as that idiot!" This is essentially what the accumulation is disagreeable to prevent. In my opinion, you shouldn't sue for something like this anyway unless you are in danger... Don't attain America worse than it is. I doubt it's worth it.
