Put ice cubes into a cup and fill it with water. Put your thumb into the liquid and intend someone to verify you to the hospital for treatment. Even a small burn can be rattling bad if it's not treated quickly so intend that cup of ice liquid and go NOW!

To treat a defect at home, apply cold water or wedge immediately. The cold water eases the discompose and reduces the amount of wound damage. Apply the cold for at small five minutes. You can ready cold on the defect for up to an distance to ease the pain, but don’t go longer than an distance because frostbite could occur. If discompose subsists, use a discompose reliever such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen (Tylenol). If the defect has caused blisters, be careful to avoid breaking or puncturing them. Blisters often fortuity on their own, and when they do, allow the overlying wound to remain on the blister. It acts as a dewy dressing, keeping the new wound decent and protecting it as it toughens up. Don’t use anesthetic creams or sprays; they may actually slow healing. Antibiotic creams, such as Bacitracin and Neosporin, neither help nor hinder healing. It’s best to ready the defect and blisters decent and allow them to ameliorate on their own.

FOR MINOR BURNS If the wound is unbroken, run cool liquid over the area of the defect or soak it in a cool liquid bath (not ice water). Keep the area submerged for at least 5 minutes. A clean, cold, wet towel will also support reduce pain. Calm and quiet the person. After flushing or soaking, cover the defect with a dry, sterile bandage or clean dressing. Protect the defect from push and friction. Over-the-counter Motrin or acetaminophen can support assuage discompose and swelling. DO NOT give children under 12 aspirin. Once the wound has cooled, moisturizing lotion also can help. Minor burns will commonly ameliorate without further treatment. However, if a second-degree defect covers an area more than 2 to 3 inches in diameter, or if it is located on the hands, feet, face, groin, buttocks, or a field joint, impact the defect as a field burn. Make trusty the mortal is up-to-date on infection immunization. DO NOT DO NOT apply ointment, butter, ice, medications, cream, oil spray, or some home cure to a nonindulgent burn. DO NOT breathe, blow, or expiration on the burn. DO NOT disturb blistered or dead skin. DO NOT immerse a nonindulgent defect in algid water. This can cause shock.

If top layer of wound has pulled away, go to the ER. If it is intact immerse thumb under cold running liquid until pain subsides. Do not administer intermixture to destroyed off wound as it module stick to wound. If just red and agonized and you hit an aloe vera plant at home, break off a stem and tweet neaten onto thumb. Take OTC pain tablets and see how thumb feels in the am. If you hit destroyed down to 2nd layer of skin, you hit a 2nd degree burn and should be seen by a doctor.
