My mom sliced open her thumb diarthrosis with a serrated knife. Her thumb was unerect at the time and the blade entered her wound at a 45* angle. It immediately started to puff up and you could see the blood gushing out of the wound. It was darker than normal in my opinion. And my mom believes it might have gotten down to the bone. We put it under modify water for most 30 seconds and then wrapped it tightly in paper towel. It was cold during that time. Right now it is under a tightly wrapped band aid with a bag of ice pressed on it. It's been this way for most 20 minutes. We will be checking if it is ease injury in most a minute and if it is, should we make an crisis activate to the doctor (Which is most a 20 minute drive) or should we ready doing what we are doing. It is exclusive most .5 inch long Yes, the knife was clean. We meet cleaned it with peroxide. The injury seems to be slowing down.

Best home remedy is to clean with peroxide, add neosporin, and use butterfly bandages (these hold cuts together). You are right to keep compression on it but you requirement to make sure it is clean (pour hydrogen peroxide on it - it will bubble) If the knife was filthy (cutting meat, etc) she may requirement to intend a course of antibiotics or a tetnus shot. However, I think she needs stitches and should go to the doctor, especially if you can't stop the bleeding. An unmediated care center might be cheaper and easier than the infirmary ER. But, either way, intend treatment.
