You may have Osgood-Schlatter disease. Don't panic. I have it and I have had Orthotics fitted and I never feel some discompose now. These sites may help. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osgood-Schlatter_disease www.orthosports.com.au/knees_osgood.html

You requirement to wager an orthopedist to have your travail right diagnosed. One possible cause of your pain is "Chondromalacia patella", or CMP. Chondromalacia kneepan is the softening and degeneration of the tissue (cartilage) underneath the kneepan (patella). Chondromalacia kneepan that occurs in adolescents and young adults is intellection to be related to overuse, injury, or too much force on the knee. It is more ordinary in females. Many young grouping have a a slight travail with the position of the kneecap. Chondromalacia kneepan may also be a sign of arthritis of the kneecap, which is usually seen in older individuals. People who have previously had a dislocation, fracture, or other injury to the kneepan may be more likely to get chondromalacia. My daughter recently was diagnosed with Acute CMP due to an injury. Her doctor told me it can also occur during stages of rapid growth. His treatment regime for her: Physical therapy for 6 weeks, a cortisone injection in the knee, ice pack, ibuprofen for inflammation. Since you feature you have travail travel up stairs, and your description of your "power stance", I'd feature it's rattling possibly CMP. My daughter was told to avoid climbing more than 3-4 steps at some digit time for a some weeks. Also, you requirement to avoid that "power stance" in your action for the incoming some weeks. Baby your knee. If you don't wager some transformation in a some weeks you should wager a doctor. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/000452.htm
