I am not a nurse, I am a nursing assistant; however, I do impact with nurses every the time.
Firstly, if you are a student, like I am, essay and get a job at your local hospital as a nursing assistant. It's a great way to see what nursing is like, first-hand. I know a lot of nurses were nursing assistants, too, when they were in school. I meet switched my field from nursing to premed.
Here are whatever general Pros and Cons (they haw differ depending on what kind of organisation you impact on):
Pros of a nurse:
Satisfying and fulfilling career because you save lives
Constant interaction with patients
Continually learning newborn things
Most organisation nurses impact together as a team and, from there, bond
Challenging
It is enough of a career without becoming your life
Keeps you up to date in what's happening in the medical field
Not always the aforementioned (because patients come and go and you haw change/get pulled to a different unit)
Some Cons to Nursing (what I always center the nurses kvetch about):
"That one patient"- Difficult patients. Patients crapper be arduous in every sorts of ways. This crapper be very discouraging.
Have to study many meds.
"Orders!!" - If your patient has pain, you meet provide him whatever dilaudid, right? Wrong! Whenever anything with a patient changes (i.e. off bedrest; NPO; play or stopping medications and IVs), the woman staleness occurrence the patient's primary care physician or the physician assistant. From there, the physician module either approve, disapprove, set, or discontinue an order. And if you hit a fussy patient and a doctor who isn't picking up the phone, that crapper get frustrating.
Busy - if your organisation is short staffed, you crapper find yourself with more patients than you crapper handle. You'll be running down the halls and module get evacuated quickly.
It's not every pleasant. People are in the hospital because they need to be nurtured back to health. Unfortunately, not everyone module full recover and module die.
What do you think comes outta there? Rainbows and candy?! - If you embellish a nurse, be prepared to hit any bodily fluid (and waste) on you, at whatever saucer or another. Sometimes you'll be thrown up on. You haw also hit to wipe bottoms.
Tough hours - the shifts where I impact are 4 hrs, 8 hrs, 12 hrs, or 16 hrs.
Until you impact in the medical field, you won't hit a clear understanding of what a woman actually does. It's not a lot of inovative procedures; it's mostly care and medication. But don't make your decision based on my word, I meet gave you whatever ideas to think about. Check it out for yourself.
Best of luck!
