Sounds like you've never had surgery before. Remember that you are not their first enduring and they've likely finished this same machine binary times on numerous patients. I'm a nurse and we do minor procedures in our office. Doctors never cut into someone unless they are completely numb. The push that comes along with the machine is something they cannot take away (such as some minor tugging to get the lip completely straight or something like that ) but they would never cut into you knowing that you can feel it. If your genuinely nervous about it, speech to your doctor before the procedure. They should explain everything that they are doing preceding to doing it and if your really that nervous, perhaps he/she can inflict something to support calm your nerves preceding to going (depending on your age). Another piece of advice - take your iPod with you if you hit one. Listen to some penalization during the procedure, just don't try to sing along with it :-)
